Born in the year of the Monkey, Annis Karpenko, is inspired by light, texture and colour. She began painting in her youth and photography years later. Her first-born daughter Alta, and then her sister Cordelia, were her most favourite early subjects. Until the dog arrived, they say. Annis creates unique images with her photographs, paintings, doodles, t-shirts and found, art projects. Her work has been exhibited in Toronto and North Hatley and Lennoxville, Quebec and is represented in private collections in Canada, and the U.S.
