Andrews Bookshop in Stationery Business Directory

In February 1977, Andrew Ball found two boxes of books under his parents house and struck upon the idea of selling them at markets. Thus an Empire was born. For four years, Andrew sold second hand books at various markets and prospered from his initiative. Andrew opened his bookshop in Ringwood in 1981, moving to Ivanhoe in 1983, an area in which it has resided ever since moving to 179 Upper Heidelberg in September 1985. Then, after bursting at the seams, Andrews Bookshop relocated to new premises twice the size, two doors up at 183. Andrews Bookshop Carlton opened in April 1992, selling from two tables in the Lygon Court Shopping Center. The business soon outgrew these tables and a kiosk (open bookstall) was built to accommodate the stock. In September 1995, due to positive growth and increased demand, Andrews Bookshop Carlton took over an adjacent shop where business continues to flourish. The philosophy behind Andrews Bookshop is simple - to make books available to everyone, with a variety of styles and prices. Andrew plans to implement this philosophy even further by franchising his kiosk concept and therefore ensuring that this service will be able to be provided to many more people in the future.
