Walking Books in Stationery Business Directory
Officially recognised as the top outdoor recreation, walking is enjoyed by 17 million people in the UK. If you are one of those people, or are new to this pleasurable pursuit, then Walking Books is perfect for you. Whether you call yourself a walker, trekker, rambler, hiker, or countryside explorer, the idea behind Walking Books is to help you enjoy your leisure-time to the full in an easy, entertaining and informative way. We are a family-run business in lower Wensleydale on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The concept for Walking Books, a new idea aimed at all levels of walkers, came from experienced walker and writer Peter Beresford. There are many good guide books on the market but they are not practical for some walkers because they involve carrying a large book and a separate map. Both are susceptible to the elements and walkers who are not 100% confident - or are not au fait with map reading - find this approach confusing. It can also be dangerous, believes Peter, whose first publication successfully took the strain out of fell-walking in the Lake District and was hailed a huge success.
