Knight Equestrian Books was born of a need for a good horse bookstore in the USA. We started out in 1987, in a farmhouse here on the coast of Maine, opening a real bookstore – just books, just for horsepeople. Over the years we expanded to mail order, with our comprehensive Directory of Books, then to booths at various horse events in the East. Finally, in 1996, we established our web site (several incarnations ago, now!). Simultaneously our inventory grew from 500 titles to almost 3000, with the addition of many videos and audio cassettes. No matter which way you reach us – in the store, or by phone, email or Internet – you will meet our staff of devoted horse people. We wont total our years of experience – it would sound impressive but also gimmicky. But since we each know our books and have often even applied their information to our own horses, we take pride in helping customers find the information they need. If you have a chance to stop in (were 45 minutes down the coast from L L Bean and 10 minutes from Boothbay Harbor, and great lobster) you can meet our personable staff and browse the books for an afternoon. Perhaps even the horses will come up to check out the newcomers (got any treats???). Its a lovely spot for horse people.
