I designed our guides for active travelers like ourselves: hiking for a week in the mountains with a tent, then relaxing at an interesting hotel down in the city, exploring theaters, museums and restaurants” Gaias founder and publisher, Vlad Mitvalsky, announcing the release of the first title in our series of multimedia travel guides in April 2000. The purpose of our guides hasnt changed: show -rather than just tell- how the hotel rooms and restaurant food look, then give an unbiased opinion of the quality in relation to price. Show the natural beauty of the region in hundreds of photos, pointing out the best places to visit, and suggesting hikes of varying lengths with photos describing their environment and difficulty. Put in historic perspective other local attractions and special features, such as museums, amusement parks, casinos or wineries. Visual information (photos and panoramas, maps and increasing amount of video) in combination with up-to-the-point text allow you quick planning of your trip. After actually seeing the quality of a hotel room, you can often just click the direct links to websites, provided on the CD, to quickly make a reservation. Plan your activities according to your opinion based on photos, not on somebodys description. Later, keep our guide as a valuable souvenir with photos you didnt get - perhaps e-mailing your friends our pictures of the views you were too lazy to reach? Gaia InterMedia is a Los Angeles, California, based publisher of multimedia travel guides. Founded in 1997 by Mr. Vlad Mitvalsky, who developed the concept of the series, the company produces travel guides for active travelers with wide-ranging interests. Most of the work is done internally, but the company also uses independent contractors and local travel content providers in Europe and Asia to ensure the high quality of its growing series.
