Aleph-Bet Books is owned and operated by Helen & Marc Younger. The business was founded by Helen in 1977 and joined part-time by Marc in 1980 and full-time in 1985. We have been fully computerized since 1983 with our entire stock in a database that enables us to serve the individual needs of our clients extremely efficiently. We are not an open shop, but we do welcome visits by appointment. Our entire stock is on display in an office portion of our house. Pound Ridge is located 30 miles northeast of New York City between Bedford, NY and Stamford, CT. We have one of the largest stocks in the country of collectible and rare childrens and illustrated books. We sell only first editions and pride ourselves in finding the finest copies available. We offer books from all eras and in all languages, however we do not sell Series Books (Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, etc.) Our stock is especially strong in vintage pop-ups and moveables, books by Lewis Carroll, A.A. Milne, L.M. Montgomery, the Brandywine illustrators (Pyle, Wyeth, Parrish, JW Smith, etc.), Rackham, Dulac, Nielsen, Pogany, Charles & Heath Robinson, Harry Clarke, Walter Crane, Kate Greenaway, Maurice Sendak, Margaret Wise Brown, Tasha Tudor, and Dr. Seuss. A more complete list can be found as part of the procedure to signup for our mailing list, We usually issue three illustrated catalogues per year that offer a representative selection from our stock. Catalogues cost $10.00, but are provided gratis to requesting libraries and to other booksellers who reciprocate. Customized lists are available at any time by request.
