Francis Carr, the pen-name now used by one of his descendants, was a remarkable man who worked in Fleet Street for over 60 years, a record which is probably unique and unlikely to be surpassed in the future. In his newspaper obituary it was noted that Francis J Carr was regarded as “The Father of Fleet Street” and he is thought to be the first bearer of that particular title
