Our aim is to open a window into the world of antiquarian books, following the trade that blossomed in ancient Phoenician times into the 21st Century. We take old fashioned values: quality, integrity and customer service and blend them with modern efficiency and technology, giving you security and confidence throughout your experience with us. Byblos, Byblos, from where the name Bible is derived, was an ancient Phoenician city and was the religious and commercial capital of the southern Mediterranean coast. It is one of the top contenders for the oldest continuously inhabited city award. Although its beginnings are lost in time, it is the belief of modern scholars that the site of Byblos goes back at least 9,000 years. Its well preserved Crusader Church and Castle reflect its importance in Crusader history. Byblos took its name from the Greek word meaning “papyrus”, as it was the centre for that trade. Today it is called by the Arabic name Jbeil and is located in Lebanon north of Beirut. The name Byblos was also attributed to Egyptian boats used to take papyrus from Egypt to Lebanon nearly 5000 years ago. It was at Byblos that the first linear alphabet was created, a precursor to our modern alphabet.
