For me, it all came together when I hit menopause. Sure, my breasts bungeed from a 40C to a 44Long, certain yoga postures elicited noisy protests from orifices which should remain silent, and I finally admitted I was NOT middleaged just how many 120year olds do YOU know Besides all that, though, I suddenly felt the freedom to allow my inner child to pretty much run the whole place. I immediately left the metaphysical bookshop in St. Augustine, FL I had owned for 14 years, picked up a fistful of colored pens, and started following my bliss creating a delightfully whackedout series of original designs celebrating the humor, joy and perfect imperfection of this carnival ride we call Life.Before I finally stopped trying to squeeze my roundpeg self into a squarehole job, Id been a medical technician, Id sold shoes and ads, and I did a stint as a newspaper graphic designer in WestbyGod Virginia. The bookshop phase was a darn good launching pad for my consciousness — I had the chance to savor a smorgasbord of metaphysical authors and meet fascinating people. I was puzzled, though, at how seriously many of these folks seemed to take themselves. It was kind of an Im OK, youre NOT approach to enlightenment — My prayers are better than YOUR prayers, My spirit guides can beat up YOUR spirit guides, and even My Reiki con Leche is SOOOOOOO much more powerful than YOUR Reiki Sumo. What?Where there is laughter, there is God. Its really that simple. And that irrepressible inner child of mine was and is committed to manifesting a space where the spiritual and the hilarious meet in perfect synchronicity, shining a light on the joyful, ironic and downright silly things that bind us all together. I call it creating art for the spiritually challenged, and it seems to be striking a chord. My cards, magnets, prints and assorted other cool goodies are being distributed around the world — not bad for a selftaught artist
